The finale of Dead City is basically a teaser of the next season.

The sixth and final episode of The Walking Dead city aired on Sunday, and it was both promising and confusing. Let's try to untangle that ending, but first, let's jog our memory about what went down this season.

Spoiler alert for the entire series!

In Dead City, Maggie's son, Herschel, is kidnapped by the season's main antagonist, a man known as the Croat. To rescue Herschel, Maggie teams up with Negan. Negan agrees because Maggie promises to protect a young girl named Ginny, whom Negan has taken under his wing.

However, Maggie's true intentions are revealed when it turns out that the Croat doesn't want grain as a tribute, but Negan himself. By teaming up with Negan and handing him over to the Croat, Maggie hopes to get her son back and take revenge on the man who killed her husband.

In the final episode, titled Doma Smo (meaning "We are home" in Croatian), the Croat's plan is partially revealed as he captures Negan and releases Herschel.

However, Herschel is far from thankful for his rescue, believing that his mother is more obsessed with getting revenge on Negan than actually saving him. He accuses his mother, Maggie, of being more focused on revenge against Negan than on his own safety.

The final episode is not just a culmination of the season's events, but it also sets the stage for future developments. The episode is filled with revelations, confrontations, and a deeper exploration of the characters' motivations.

One of the most significant revelations is the true motive behind the Croat's abduction of Herschel. It turns out that the Croat isn't interested in Negan for revenge or obsession, but rather he's working for a woman named Dama, who seems to be a former stage actress or theater director.

Her headquarters is within a New York City theater, and her office is in a big fancy dressing room. She describes the events of the series as if it's part of a play, and she wants Negan, a man who is capable of theatrics and scare tactics, to help her lead.

The ending of The Walking Dead: Dead City foreshadows potential plot developments for the next season, and fans can't wait to see it.
