Unfortunately, Legacies got canceled after a disaster of a season 4, and now we will never know what could have been.

When the Warner Bros. – Discovery merger was happening, The Vampire Diaries spinoff's ratings were already dropping, so the show got the axe.

However, the creators had been cooking up some plans for season 5, and boy, were they something!

Here are five things that were supposed to happen in Legacies' season 5.

1. Time Jump

Season 4 ended in a way that didn't leave much to be desired. Most of the characters' stories seemed to be wrapped up for the time being, so it makes sense that the writers would want to include a time jump.

In an interview for CBR, showrunner Brett Matthews shared that he was looking forward to "seeing where they [the characters] were and how they would all find their way back to one another."

It would've been fun!

2. Jed & Ben

In the season 4 finale, Jed and Ben got lucky as they were freed from their respective curses – Ben was no longer an immortal monster magnet, and Jed ceased to be a werewolf.

Season 5 would've seen them trying to live their normal lives and slowly realizing the drawbacks of not having their "curses" anymore.

3. Kaleb & Cleo

This power couple would've finally had their time to shine in season 5. In season 4, we learned that Cleo's powers were evolving into something else, allowing her to see some tragedy in her and Kaleb's future.

Season 5 would have provided more opportunities for Cleo's Oracle character arc to develop.

4. Landon, Alaric & Caroline

These characters would've had separate journeys in season 5, but they would still have been fascinating to watch.

Landon may have died, but he was still very much present as the new Ferryman of Limbo in season 4, and his story would've had so much potential in season 5.

Alaric gave up his position as the headmaster, and now Caroline should be in charge. This would've radically changed up the dynamic at the school!

5. Delena's Daughter

Last but not least, season 5 would've given us Damon and Elena's love child. In an interview for TVLine, series creator Julie Plec revealed that introducing Stefanie Salvatore was "very much at the top of their white board" for season 5.

Maybe we could've even gotten Ian and Nina to make cameo appearances in one of the episodes?

Too bad Legacies was canceled before the world got a chance to enjoy all of this in season 5. Hopefully, this won't be the end of The Vampire Diaries universe. Another spinoff? Please?
