Unexpected Downton Abbey Update From Imelda Staunton Has Fans Freaking Out

It’s never too late for another Downton Abbey’s movie — and it seems like we’re getting it quite soon. As the rumors have been circulating recently not only about the third film, but also about another season (despite the fact that the show itself ended in 2015), some of them now turn out to be confirmed.

It all started a while ago after Highclere Castle (home to the aristocratic Crawley family) PR team kept having suspicious activity in the social media posting content that was somehow connected to the fan-favorite show. This raised concerns whether there was really something happening in the castle that was potentially related to Downton Abbey.

Fans’ enthusiasm was then spiced up by other reports saying that the cast indeed got together in the castle to secretly shoot a seventh season. But that time nothing was said about the films, only about a potential series’s continuation.

The rumors about another film were sparked once again by actress Imelda Staunton — in an interview she admitted she didn’t really care if she was going to spill the tea earlier than it was planned to and then said there would be a third and final film.

So far the fans got to see the first two films — one of the same name and Downton Abbey: A New Era that premiered in 2019 and 2022 respectively.

So, apparently, if we get to believe Staunton’s words, fans can be reassured in at least being gifted yet another sequel which is probably not as far as it seems to be. Time will also tell what the future will hold and if another season of Downton Abbey is included in it.
