How did EuroTrip manage to trick us all?

EuroTrip is a comedy movie released in 2004, and shame on us for not including it in our top comedies of the 2000s.

The story revolves around Scott Thomas, a high school student from Ohio who is dumped by his German pen pal, Mieke.

Unaware that Mieke is a girl's name in Germany, Scotty assumes that Mieke is a guy and responds with offensive comments. However, he later realizes the truth.

Determined to make things right, Scotty plans a spontaneous trip to Europe, along with his friends Cooper, Jenny and Jamie.

The group encounters numerous comedic and awkward situations as they visit various cities, including London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Rome.

But the interesting part is that they didn't actually visit either of these European cities. A youtuber named WishCasting shared a video where he shows all the locations from the movie.

And as it turns out, the entire movie was filmed in Prague, Czech Republic.

There was a scene where the group goes down the alley in Rome, and there is the Colosseum in the background. In reality it is in Prague, in the Mala Strana area.

The youtuber shows the exact same alley but evidently there is no Colosseum anywhere near. It was added in post-production.

The Vatican museum, Louvre, the Eiffel Tower, and other landmarks, — all of these places were actually filmed in Prague.

There is only one exception. Remember the scene when they arrive in Bratislava, Slovakia? Well, it wasn't Bratislava, and neither was it Prague. But it was filmed in Milovice, 30 km outside of Prague.

It makes sense as the movie didn't have a huge budget to afford filming in so many cities. While Prague provided the stunning visuals, it also played an important role behind the scenes.

The city's skilled professionals, including talented crew members and experienced technicians, ensured the production ran smoothly.

Although EuroTrip may have deceived viewers with its European settings, the movie's enduring popularity proves that the movie managed to transport audiences on an exciting and hilarious adventure across Europe.
