Tom Cruise Won't Hit a Woman Even If It's His Co-star and She's Begging Him to Do It
In Mission: Impossible, Cruise’s female co-star asked him to hit her in a specific way, but the actor refused to even discuss it as he was worried it could be… Dangerous!
You may be thinking that Tom Cruise and danger always walk hand in hand, and you’d be absolutely right… Except the actor is only ready to put himself at risk. While Cruise performs insane and life-threatening stunts, he hates the idea of putting his co-stars in danger — at least, when he’s supposed to personally do it.
The filming of Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part 1 started with Tom Cruise performing what is regarded as the biggest and most dangerous stunt in the history of cinema: the actor launched himself off a cliff while riding a motorcycle to parachute his way out of the freefall halfway down.
This stunt was so dangerous, in fact, that it was being shot on the very first day… Just in case Cruise would die while attempting it! The concern from his crew didn’t stop the actor, though, as he proceeded to yeet himself off the cliff time and time again until the entire filming crew had white hair and a dozen motorcycles were lost.
But when it came to endangering his co-star, the actor didn’t want to hear about it.
It’s not like Pom Klementieff (Mantis from Guardians of the Galaxy) asked Cruise to hand his motorcycle and parachute over, too. She plays Paris, an incredibly dangerous “rebel and killer,” and at one point, her character gets into a fight with Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt. Klementieff wanted her co-star to go hard on her, but he refused.
“I kept telling him to just kick me [in the stomach]. I was squeezing abs. [I said], ‘You can just go for it.’ He was like ‘No, no, no, no, no.’ I was like, ‘But it’s going to help me!’ But he wouldn’t do it,” shared the Mantis actress.
Admittedly, Tom Cruise was too worried that kicking Klementieff in the stomach would result in irreversible damage to her body, but at the same time, the actor’s done many more brutal things in his on-screen fights before and this never stopped him. Still, his diligence in protecting his co-star's health is quite admirable.
