Some of us just aren't cut out to follow such strict rules at all times.

If there's one thing you're sure to find in any interview following the release of another Tom Cruise movie, it's praise for the actor's work ethic on and off the set.

If Cruise was not so curious, hardworking, and goal-oriented, he would not be able to pull off half of the stunts he is famous for. Because he's so dedicated to his craft, it's almost impossible to imagine him following a different career path. However, for the actor himself, it was the other way around until his late teens.

According to an interview with one of Cruise's closest school friends, Shane Dempler, they both attended St. Francis Seminary at the University of Cincinnati to become Catholic priests. Growing up in a Catholic family, religion was always a big part of his life, and Cruise was ready to spend more time around it.

He was eager to learn and had a lot of passion for what would become his future career. However, like many kids of his age, Tom Cruise couldn't resist getting into trouble from time to time, and that was crucial for the seminary.

"We found few bottles of liquor and kept it near the woods. The priests did not find it until few other boys got to know about our plan. They went inside the woods and got drunk. They were caught red-handed and forced to confess," Dempler shared to contactmusic.com.

Technically, neither friend was kicked out after the incident, but their parents were immediately informed of what had happened and politely asked to reconsider other options for their children.

Since Cruise was already involved in a drama class, it was the second obvious plan to pursue.

And acting was the one skill that brought Tom Cruise the recognition and fame he deserved. Right now, you can see the actor on the big screen in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. Make sure you go to your local theater to get your tickets!
