This Game of Thrones Star Defends the Finale — and Wishes to Reprise Her Role
This is not a drill! We repeat: this is not a drill! We found a Game of Thrones star who doesn't hate the finale and actually thinks that it was smart and life-like!
At this point, even if you've been living under a rock on Madagascar for the entirety of your life, you'd know that the Game of Thrones finale was terrible.
The show's fans were so unbelievably frustrated with the ending that the whole world learned about all the reasons why GoT creators ruined the most popular franchise.
The majority of the actors hated the ending, too: while they were explicitly forbidden from talking about this back in the day, you could see how their faces were becoming grim every time they were asked about the Game of Thrones finale.
As soon as some of them got the chance, they started trashing the ending — take Emilia Clarke. But apparently, some members of the cast actually liked the show's ending!
Well, we can't be sure just how many, because so far, only one actress has expressed this point of view — Carice van Houten, who played Melisandre in Game of Thrones, defends the finale and explains why she found it justified and smart.
"I just love the fact that the whole throne was blown away. The whole thing was gone. I really loved it, and also the randomness of talking about who's going to be king. The silliness of it was very smart. I thought, 'This is what life is. Some dumbo can become president,'" van Houten explained.
We can kind of see where the actress was coming from: it's true that even in real life, sometimes the most random and unexpected people can get the ultimate power.
But we are pretty sure that it's not enough to justify the utter mess of a finale we got.
Apart from defending the Game of Thrones ending, Carice van Houten also stated that she'd be happy to reprise the role of Melisandre if she had an opportunity and "the storyline was good," but this doesn't come as a surprise: the actress was always known for being fond of her character, and she enjoyed being part of the show a lot.
