This Bridgerton S3 Theory Will Make You Believe It's Not Over For Lady Whistledown

Lady Whistledown has been a character in her own right since the very beginning of Bridgerton. Even though she's not all that good at getting into people's personal business and ruining many people's reputations with gossip (no matter how true it is), she's been extremely entertaining to follow.

The idea of adding a Gossip Girl-esque twist to the Regency-era story made an already juicy tale even more scandalous and somewhat mysterious. However, as the season 3 premiere draws closer with each passing day, viewers are beginning to worry about what is in store for Lady Whistledown.

Now that we know that behind Whistledown's persona was Penelope Featherington, who will also be one of the main characters in season 3, it's fair to assume that she will give up her questionable hobby.

Whether she's really feeling it or just pulling herself together for Colin, Penelope would need a redemption arc after the terrible season 2 finale. Getting rid of Whistledown would be one step in that direction. But that doesn't mean that once she's done with it, no one else will want to pick up the name and carry on.

It would also help save Penelope's character and give her a chance to get away from all the unnecessary drama but also bring back the original mystery. Another advantage would be that this time not even the readers of the Bridgerton books would really know who is behind Whistledown and would be just as eager to find out.

Another theory floating around is that Penelope is still writing as Lady Whistledown, but now under the supervision of the Queen herself. It's hard to deny that no matter how damaging Whistledown was at times, it would also be a great way to control the narrative for the crown.

Also, then Penelope will get another chance to redeem herself through Lady Whistledown by helping Kate Sharma-Bridgerton settle into her married life and the society around her and do the same for Sofia when Benedict's time comes.
