This $825 Million Franchise Lead Never Got The Fame He Deserved
Taron Egerton deserves all the love there is!
Summary:
- After the success of the Kingsman franchise, Taron Egerton has become one of the biggest names in Hollywood.
- However, fans feel that the actor still deserves more recognition than he is getting.
- There's still hope that another major project will help him reignite his career.
The fans of the Kingsman franchise all remember when the first movie was released: it was an instant hit. Kingsman: The Secret Service was released in 2014 and had Colin Firth and Taron Egerton as main stars.
Everybody loved Firth for a long time now, but when Egerton’s Eggsy appeared on screen he stole the show just immediately. After the success of the first movie, it took the creators three years to make another film. Kingsman: The Golden Circle was released in 2017.
Egerton ended up being extremely popular after the films were released, which of course opened the door to other big projects like Rocketman, the film about the iconic Elton John. The role even earned him a Golden Globe Award.
Needless to say, his career was at its peak after that, but unfortunately it was also the time when the Covid-19 pandemic started and almost all of Hollywood was out of work.
“I think sadly his momentum kind of lost a little traction after COVID hit in 2020. He had just won the Golden Globe and his name was everywhere… and then the whole planet shut down. What should have been a huge career swing for him kind of stalled out a little,” Redditor chrissy0418 said.
However, there are many other fans who think that Egerton ending up not being a mega star, but just a regular famous actor is actually a good thing.
For example, he chooses the movies very carefully, literally handpicking stuff where he would be a perfect hit.
That's how he ended up in the miniseries Black Bird, which gave him a reputation for being a criminal mastermind. However, he seems to be much more than he is given credit for.
But maybe the future holds something truly special for Egerton and he is yet to experience another boost in his career.
