Being a popular TV personality and a Hollywood actor are too different, as even the most talented performers in prestige dramas can flop when they move to the big screen, unaccustomed to the rigors of feature film acting.
And certainly Hollywood has seen plenty of examples of talented TV actors struggling to adjust to starring in movies, and here's the 10 most prominent examples of that:
As you can see, this list consists entirely of television royalty, showered with awards and fan adoration, whose iconic roles are still remembered as the finest examples of television acting.
However, they all struggled to stay relevant after becoming Hollywood stars. And it's not like producers were trying to pigeonhole them into playing versions of their beloved TV characters - on the contrary, major studios gave them a chance to experiment, but all the movies they starred in flopped miserably.
It seems that it takes more than raw talent to be an A-lister in Hollywood, as even actors as talented as Paul, Hall and Hamm have failed to make an impression as leading men.
Although all of the above actors are still working in supporting roles in movies, they are nowhere near the big stars they were when they starred in their own TV shows.
