There's Something People Never Got Right About Harry Potter Being a Horcrux
If you think that being a Horcrux is something that can save you from a good old-fashioned unforgivable curse, think again.
The seventh chapter of the Harry Potter saga revealed that Harry had actually been Voldemort's Horcrux all along. But many people immediately assumed that it was the part of Voldemort's soul inside Harry that prevented him from dying when the Dark Lord finally hit him with the Avada Kedavra in the Forbidden Forest.
Even though many years have passed since the Harry Potter finale, fans are still debating on that. According to a recent Reddit theory, it was not a horcrux that protected Harry from actually dying, but rather Harry's own blood circulating in Voldemort's veins.
"This kept Harry's mother's sacrifice alive within Voldemort and let him (if he chose to) go back to living after Voldemort tried to kill him," Redditor BlockIdol said.
In fact, the fan theory is kind of confirmed by Professor Trelawney's prophecy, which reads that "either must die at the hand of the other for neither can live while the other survives." Basically, as one fan put it, Voldemort signed his own death warrant "the moment he took Harry's blood and marked him as his equal."
Ironically, many fans believe that if Voldemort had chosen another enemy to get the blood for his resurrection ritual, he would have been fine and Harry would have died. For example, he could take... Dumbledore's blood, as he was also his mortal enemy, but not part of the prophecy.
However, Voldermort's mistake paved the way for the happy ending of the Harry Potter saga. After all, if villains were that clever, it would be hard to believe in the best, wouldn't it?
