Following Barbie Ferreira's departure from HBO's hit Max, there is still a chance that the show will justify her absence.

Barbie Ferreira's Kat will not appear in Euphoria Season 3, reportedly due to disagreements with the show's creator Sam Levinson. However, there is still a way to work her sudden departure into the story.

The fan theory that offered such a way was shared on Reddit by MicrowaveSteak.

"Most of us have heard that Kat won't be returning for season 3 and we all remember Ethan dismissing Kat's terminal brain disorder. It turns out it's true and episode 1 is Kat's funeral, after dying from her horrible brain disease. Ethan will be singing Hallelujah playing an acoustic guitar, the Jeff Buckley version," the theory goes.

It's true that Kat told her then-boyfriend Ethan in season 2 that she had a brain disorder. However, it was clearly implied at the time that she was lying in order to get him to break up with her - something fans really hated Kat for.

Ethan also called her out for refusing to believe in her illness. Well, not that the actress who played Kat is leaving the show, it would be a stretched but somewhat understandable plot twist to explain her sudden departure. After all, Euphoria has always been about drama (sometimes unnecessary drama...), so Kat's funeral could set a tone for the upcoming season.

At the end of August it was announced that Ferreira would no longer be part of the Euphoria cast. Many fans immediately suggested that it was Sam Levinson's fault, not least because of his failure to give Kat a decent storyline in season 2.

The third season is supposed to start filming "soon". However, no official shooting dates have been announced, and the premiere date has not yet been set.
