These lines really made us fear the main character of the series.

Rick Grimes has been a beloved protagonist of The Walking Dead for many years. Rick, flawlessly portrayed by Andrew Lincoln, had its fair share of memorable lines, many of which became iconic. Here are some of the most badass lines that made us look at Rick from a completely different perspective.

“If they can’t make it, we’ll just take this place.”

Freshly settled in Alexandria, Rick’s not in the mood to be underestimated. Despite the warm welcome, he knows his group's potential. With this line, he establishes that he's ready to go the distance, even if it means taking over.

“They’re gonna feel really stupid when they find out… They are screwing with the wrong people.”

Who can forget this chilling line from the season 4 finale? Trapped by cannibals and backed into a corner in Terminus, Rick drops this gem.

The original line with F-bomb was a bit more colorful, but even the edited version for TV had us gripping our seats.

"This isn't a democracy anymore."

A darker shade of Rick emerged at the end of season two. After a series of unfortunate events, Rick was done being Mr. Nice Guy.

With this line, he declared that the group's democratic days were over. If you wanted to stay, you followed Rick’s rules. It ruffled a few feathers, but it sure was badass. That’s home “Ricktatorship” began.

"There's a compound bow and a machete with a red handle. That's what I'm going to use to kill you."

When Rick says something, he means it. After a rough encounter with the Terminus gang, Rick gave their leader, Gareth, a sneak peek into his doomed future. It was pure satisfaction to see Rick follow through with his promise, eventually using the same red machete to kill Gareth.

"I don't take chances anymore."

The early days saw Rick trying to hang on to his old-world morals, but the apocalypse had other plans. Several heartbreaking losses later, he became a hardened survivor. This line sums up the new Rick who's not about to let his guard down for anyone.
