This one is a solid classic.

Although many of the TV series from the 2010s are still well-beloved and widely recognised as the blueprint of their respective genres, there are some that seem to be falling through the cracks. The earlier they have been released, the less people seem to remember about them, and, if not for some random article or recommendation, some of the greatest shows become forgotten.

One of the best things that can happen with a show like that is being acquired for streaming by one of the giant platforms. Netflix, now known to bring decades-old shows to renaissance after Scandal, is topping all the lists in that regard. And the next month’s pick for the 2010s show is one of the best the platform has ever seen.

Is Dexter Worth Watching?

Back in 2006, Showtime premiered the new crime drama show titled Dexter. Although not much was known about it, the show captured the attention of viewers from the very first episode with its unusual premise that followed the sociopathic vigilante trying to come to terms with his dark side and get that kick from murdering the bad guys.

To top it all off, Dexter Morgan, brilliantly portrayed by Michael C. Hall, was a forensic technician specializing in bloodstain pattern analysis, which made it very easy for him to hide the evidence of his own crimes.

During its 8-season run, Dexter was nominated for 24 Primetime Emmy Awards and the show's lead actor was nominated for a Golden Globe. Although the critical response to Dexter hasn't always been good, with season 2 holding a 96% rating on Rotten Tomatoes and season 6 dropping to 36%, reviews for the show as a whole are generally positive.

In 2021, after a long hiatus, the story continued with the sequel Dexter: New Blood. The first season, still focusing on Dexter Morgan, was generally well received. In 2023, it was announced that the next episodes would follow Dexter's son and would be released later for broadcast.

Unfortunately, like any influential media piece about a serial killer, the show has inspired a number of real-life murders in the United States and internationally. Despite this, the show is still available, and even more so, is seeking a larger audience on Netflix next month.

If you're interested in watching all 8 seasons of the original show about the monstrous yet genius Dexter Morgan, don't forget to tune in to Netflix on June 19.
