The Sauron Actor Had Only One Castmate Who Knew the Secret
And what a secret it was.
Warning: the following article contains spoilers for The Rings of Power episode 8
Now that we can officially refer to British actor Charlie Vickers as The Rings of Power's Sauron, not just Halbrand, it's time to ditch the masks. Yes, episode 8 has shed light on the biggest mystery of the season, and would-be king of the Southlands ended up being confirmed as the lord of the orc's stronghold, Mordor, that spread on these lands instead.
However, according to Vickers himself, it was a mystery even for him. Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, the actor revealed that he only got to know that he is Sauron by episode three. And there was only one castmate he could share his secret with.
"Even around castmembers, when I first learned about it, [Galadriel actress Morfydd Clark] was the only one I could tell. So it's a relief to be able to share it," Vickers told the outlet.

It's quite ironic given that Clark's character was the one who struggled to hunt down Sauron the most. Still, it seems that fans are still not too thrilled about the final reveal — mostly due to how predictable it was. Even before the show's premiere fans suspected Halbrand to be Sauron in disguise.
In the upcoming season, according to Vickers, we will get to know a lot more about Sauron.
"I think it's a really exciting season because you start to see Sauron for who he is. We've been seeing him in this period of repentance. We're going to move into this period of watching his plans unfold. You're with him as he moves the pieces on the chessboard," he teased.
The work on season 2 is already underway, with the writing being finalized and shooting ongoing. The premiere date will be announced later.
