When you only get the green light for one project, but you've already written dozens of scripts in a variety of genres.

After more than six years on your screens, The CW's modern reimagining of the iconic Archie Comics characters recently wrapped its seventh and final season. Known for its wild and bizarre storylines that push the teen drama genre to new heights of absurdity, the show has consistently pushed the boundaries of reality.

Here are just a few of the most outrageous storylines that have been a part of the small town of Riverdale.

6. Jailhouse Rock For Inmates

The third season of the show takes an unexpected turn with Archie's prison stay and the events that follow. Refusing to participate in prison gang conflicts, Archie attempts to unite his fellow inmates through sports.

Veronica steps in as a supportive girlfriend and brings her cheerleading squad, the Vixens, to perform Jailhouse Rock for the inmates on the other side of the fence. In the midst of the musical moments of the show, this particular scene stands out as one of the weirdest plot twists ever created.

5. Dark Betty

In case you missed Betty Cooper's dark side in the early seasons, the show has made sure to emphasize her innate potential for malevolence due to her serial killer genes, which were discovered in medical tests during her childhood.

Betty's alter ego, complete with a black wig and a penchant for BDSM, took the show in an unexpected direction, influencing the character's actions and usually showing up in her conflicts with enemies.

4. Rivervale

A twisted, alternate reality version of Riverdale, Rivervale introduced a parallel universe in which familiar characters led drastically different lives. After Hiram's bombing in the season five finale, the gang entered an alternate reality for the first five episodes of season six, which were filled with supernatural events.

Archie's death, a devil in Veronica's casino, and Toni's transformation into La Llorona were all part of this uniquely weird arc.

3. Abigail Blossom

Season five was a hell of a ride because it also introduced Cheryl's ancestor Abigail, who was accused of witchcraft and in season six took revenge on the descendants of her killers by possessing Cheryl's body. Despite the chaos, in an unusual twist, Cheryl and Toni allowed her and her lover's spirits to share their bodies for one last intimate moment. Literally, what the hell...?

2. The Farm

With its mysterious rituals and its charismatic leader, Edgar Evernever, the show introduced The Farm, a cult that recruits local people to live in their mysterious compound. Betty infiltrates the group to save her new friends and family, uncovering the Farm's sinister organ harvesting scheme.

She narrowly escapes being lobotomized when she threatens to expose the secrets of The Farm and ultimately stops Edgar from escaping in his very own rocket ship. Why does this all sound like fever dreams?

1. The Swedish Family

At the heart of the show is not only the heart-warming friendship between Archie, Veronica, Betty, and Jughead but also the love between all of them. Mirroring the Archie comics, Riverdale embraced this theme by pairing the characters together in the strangest of ways.

However, the final, most bizarre twist comes when the show's finale episode reveals that the characters spent a year together as a foursome, making all sorts of pairings possible.
