Sasha Calle thought she was being tested for a new “Atomic Blonde” of sorts, and receiving an invitation to join The Flash instead was a massive shock for the actress.

When it comes to big movies, misleading potential cast additions about the nature of the project is a common practice. The actors who come to audition often have no clue as to what they’re testing for, and the scripts they receive for the audition can have next to nothing in common with the actual movie script.

The creators of The Flash were using this method, too, and decided to keep the actors in the dark… This is why Sasha Calle, the Supergirl actress, had literally no idea that she was testing for Superman ’s cousin in such a high-profile movie!

In her recent interview with Comic Book, Sasha shared her confusion about the nature of her audition. Apparently, she was expecting something like a new “Atomic Blonde” as her testing script suggested she had a gun, not a red cape, and the only thing she was told about the movie was that it was an "Untitled Warner Bros. film."

"This is where they trick you: I had a gun, right? I was like this angry kind of assassin, I thought it was semi-like 'Atomic Blonde,' I love 'Atomic Blonde' so much, and it was in that realm,” explained the actress. She also revealed that to get the role, she bought herself a fake gun on Amazon as equipment for the audition.

On the audition, Calle apparently performed too well for her own safety. The young actress was immediately taken to do a screen test, and she was not expecting that.

Sasha only managed to do one tape before she was informed that the director of the movie wanted to speak to her personally, so she was understandably shaken.

Four days later, The Flash’s director Andy Muschietti reached out to Sasha on a video call and asked her if she’d like to fly while holding the Supergirl costume in front of the camera. As a big fan herself, Calle was overwhelmed with emotions.

Sasha reacted to the offer with tears of joy and gratitude, and Andy and Barbara Muschietti shared their emotions, too. The actress says that it was “such a special and honest moment” for her that she’d never forget.

Little did she know that after the camera stopped rolling, she’d also get to meet her favorite Man of Steel, Henry Cavill, and receive praise from him in person!

They say that everyone has one life-changing moment in their lives, and it seems like for Sasha Calle, this was it — and she couldn’t have been happier about it.
