The Controversial Harry Potter Scene That Made Daniel Radcliffe Call His Co-Star an ‘Animal’

The three Harry Potter actors, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint, have become closest friends for more than 10 years of shooting together. It, undoubtedly, made the process of filming easier, as they didn’t need to outdo themselves to portray friendship among the trio and to find a necessary chemistry which was already present.
However, their closeness was a huge challenge when it came to the finale, which involved more love scenes than the previous, more childlike chapters. The same was with the Harry and Hermione kiss scene, which took place in the first Deathly Hallows movie.
In its climax, when Harry opens Slytherin’s locket, one of Lord Voldemort’s horcruxes, it begins to torture Ron by mocking his biggest fears. The main one is presented in the vision of Harry and Hermione telling him they would be better off without him, which is followed by a kiss of the two, who are shown naked and intimate.
Later, the actors were asked about that kiss in the interviews, which revealed it was really tough to film it with the person you literally lived with on the set being friends for a decade. Radcliffe, admitting lots of men would like to be in his shoes in that particular moment, had a pretty surprising take on the scene.
"I always thought it was going to be this soft sensual sort of moment, and suddenly there was this vigorous kissing happening to me. She is a bit of an animal,” he joked. As for Grint, Radcliffe added he had to leave the set ‘cause “he was laughing that much."
Watson herself explained her unhinged behavior on set by her worries about such an awkward situation where she needed to be physically intimate with her friend in front of the crew, therefore, she was merely so stressed out “to make it as real” as she could.
As the Harry Potter franchise was regarded as family-friendly movies, this scene evoked a lot of speculations about its appropriateness. Nevertheless, it definitely adds to the spectacularity of the finale of the Deathly Hallows: Part 1 and to Ron's character.
