The Boys Fans Demanding Season 4 Got Showrunner In Defensive Mode
Sometimes a passionate fandom can get a little too intense.
It's been less than two days since The Boys wrapped filming for season 4 and fans are already in anticipation mode.
Producing a season of a show with as many characters, costumes, locations, and special effects as The Boys can be difficult and time-consuming, but convincing an audience that has been waiting for many months is pretty tough.
The show's executive producer, Eric Kripke, who has always been very active on social media, tried to reach out to the fans in his own way. He edited the bio of his personal Twitter account to read:
"Look, we're editing Season 4 as fast as we can, lay off, jeez".
The sentiment seems to be working, as the screenshot was shared all over the internet and soon enough ended up on r/TheBoys for all fans to see.
Luckily, The Boys fandom can take a hint and appreciate the honesty. Judging by the overwhelmingly positive response, Kripke may be on to something.
As many fans have been preaching for years, showrunners might consider getting closer to the audience they work for and communicating with them in a way that feels natural.
But fans remain cautious, hoping that this isn't a case of speed over quality.
"Take your time and do a great job. Take a little longer and make it even better. I'll wait for a good product no problem. Do it rushed and we get shit like ruining the Witcher or Disney Star Wars or season 8, and you know what show I'm talking about," Redditor LifeSimulatorC137 said.
In full truth, fans' complaints are probably not going to affect the time that post-production takes.
All that is left for The Boys audience is to practice patience and rewatch previous seasons to get prepared to see how the story unfolds in a new one.
