This would be a plot twist we deserve.

The satire superhero series on Amazon Prime has been a huge hit since its release. The show follows a group of vigilantes known as The Boys as they try to take down corrupt Supes who abuse their powers.

However, it is implied that the leader of the gang is a villain himself.

Throughout the series, The Boys are led by a character named Billy Butcher. He is a gruff and tough-talking boss who seems to be driven by a desire for revenge against Homelander, who raped and killed his wife.

As the series progresses, however, it becomes clear that something more sinister is at play.

It is revealed that Butcher has been manipulating the other members of The Boys all along. He has been working with a group of government officials to create a weapon capable of killing superheroes, using his team to gather information and resources.

Butcher's true motives are revealed to be less about revenge and more about a desire for power.

And recently, Redditor Own_Ad4341 theorized that Compound V reveals the true qualities of the person taking the drug.

Hughie, for example, had dreamed all these years of saving his girlfriend Robin from an A-Train that literally ran her over. So he got teleportation as his superpower.

Butcher has dreamed all these years of killing Homelander, and Compound V gives him the same ability as the legendary Supe.

Perhaps this is the series' way of showing that the leader of the Boys is the twisted version of the leader of the Seven.

In general, fans agree with this interpretation of events. Although some sarcastically point out that the V theory explains a lot about the character Deep, who had an affair with fish and became a fish himself.

But this assumption also applies to Starlight. Ever since she was a baby, her mother wanted her daughter Annie to become a pop icon, and she became a real star with the ability to shine.

Some fans even believe that Compound V preys on human trauma, turning its users into worse versions of themselves.

Hughie hates A-Train, so his ability allows him to be much faster than the detested Supe. Butcher harbors a grudge against Homelander, so V gave him similar powers to destroy the leader of the Seven.
