If only HBO wouldn’t want to change it either.

The vast majority of The Big Bang Theory fans are actually pretty happy with how things ended on the show for most of their favorite characters. The writers followed the development that took place over the years, made sure to fuel it with various challenges, and finally drew a line under each friend's story.

One character, however, had a much more controversial finale than the others. In fact, his ending had fans whining all over the web, hoping to be heard, but no one came to address them.

Now, more than four years later, people are still unhappy with what the show did with Raj Koothrappali and how his growth was never completed. This is not true. At least the ending that the majority of the fandom would rather see is definitely not much better than the one the showrunners went with.

As someone who started the show struggling with selective mutism and trying to get his dating life in order, Raj's personal growth was very much focused on the women he dated. While we as viewers didn't get to know them that well, it was clear that every relationship he ended up in had a life lesson in it.

As much as viewers want to see Raj get to the point where he can maintain a happy and healthy relationship, the choice he makes in the finale is actually much more valuable. While he rejected the idea of a seemingly perfect life with Anu for many reasons, he was confident enough to convince Sarah Michelle Gellar to be his date at the Nobel Ceremony, which speaks volumes about his confidence.

Raj may not have ended up with a long-term girlfriend, a wife, or a whole family like his other friends, but he has shown by example that there are things more valuable in life than dating. Self-confidence and self-respect are definitely at the top of the list.

Whether the spinoff, which HBO has now announced is in pre-production, will touch on Raj's life and show how things might have changed for him, or whether it won't change anything about who he has become, we'll have to wait and see. Stay tuned for more news and behind-the-scenes updates.

In the meantime, you can always stream The Big Bang Theory original series on Netflix or MAX.
