Taika Waititi Shares A Huge Update On 'Our Flag Means Death' Season 2
HBO has finally renewed the fan-favorite comedy series for a second season, and it looks like the rag tag LGBTQ+ crew is in for a big change.
Taika Waititi-produced series suddenly became a worldwide phenomenon earlier this year, with thousands of fans praising HBO and the creative team behind the show for creating such a wholesome and cozy project. The 'Our Flag Means Death ' fandom went through a lot of anguish over the past couple of months, fearing that the streaming service would not renew the series for a second installment, but it eventually turned out that HBO was just waiting for Pride Month to announce its positive decision.
And it looks like Tika Waititi just can't wait to get started on season two, sharing some insights about the production in his recent conversation with Collider.
"We start filming hopefully I think by October, and we're gonna shoot in New Zealand. We shot the last one in LA. Weird place to try and do something all on the ocean, so we're gonna go down to New Zealand which is surrounded by it. That's one of the things I'm most excited about for the next year," Waititi said.
Waititi seems really passionate about the series, anticipating working on it even more than he does on his confirmed 'Star Wars ' project. Thanks to tireless fan support, HBO Max decided to significantly increase the budget of the second season, which is perfectly proved by New Zealand being the main filming location.
Fans are clearly excited that a second season is nearing production, but some of them can't help but wonder why New Zealand was chosen rather than the Caribbean countries where the series takes place.
