Writers, have mercy!

One of the latest Netflix shows that has caught the attention of soap opera lovers is none other than Sweet Magnolias. The series is a dramatic take on the lives of small town citizens who get involved in all sorts of problems.

The story revolves around three best friends, Maddie, Helen, and Dana Sue, as they try to navigate the everyday hardships that life keeps throwing at them. Like any real soapy drama, the show has established some characters we are ready to root for and some we are ready to boo at any time.

However, it seems like fans had enough of one of the show’s main characters. Dana Sue keeps pissing everybody off, and it seems like there’s nowhere to hide from her negative attitude, and season 3 just proved she is not going to change anytime soon.

There are many reasons fans hate her, and all of them are quite real.

“Dana Sue is mean as a snake, and seems horrible. She is no prize, I don’t know why her daughter keeps being forgiving to her, why men fight over her, and why these women want to keep being her friend. Yuck,” Redditor MeatloafingAround said.

The writers really did a great job of portraying her as a bad mother. It seems like every little thing Annie did on the show was meant to make Dana Sue lose her temper. She overreacted to almost everything. And that was the attitude her daughter got by being a really good person. Not quite fair, huh?

Another thing that drives fans crazy is the fact that unlike any other character, Dana Sue never had a redemption arc. Until the end of last season, she remained the same delusional freak she was in season 1. Apparently, character development is the thing she could only wish for.

If you need a reminder of just how annoying Dana Sue's character really was, feel free to binge-watch Sweet Magnolias seasons 1-3 on Netflix while waiting for news about season 4.
