Supernatural Star We All Forgot Was on Days of Our Lives
Even though Jensen Ackles was a part of many projects, many fans have come to know and love him as Dean Winchester from Supernatural.
But before taking part in the hit dark fantasy series, Ackles has had a short-running part on another long-established drama.
Before the turn of the millennium, from 1997-2000, Ackles portrayed a character named Eric Brady on popular soap drama Days of Our Lives.
Eric Brady is the son of the soap's power couple Roman Brady and Marlena Evans. Ackles made his last appearance as Eric in July 2000, before departing the show due to signing a development deal with ABC.
Twelve years later, the character entered Days again, although now played by Greg Vaughn, who portrays Eric Brady to this day.
Ackles is aware that his Days part was not as popular as gigs on Supernatural and The Boys.
However, when promoting the latter, Ackles went to Late Show With Seth Myers, where he shared an anecdote proving there are at least a couple of people out there who remember seeing Ackles in the soap drama in the 1990s.
On a flight from Europe to the States, Ackles had a flight attendant who seemingly recognized him. Initially, Jensen thought it must have been due his Supernatural or The Boys fame, but surprisingly – it was neither.
As a rule, admits Ackles, people don't usually recognize him as Eric Brady from Days, but this flight attendant did (despite being "not old enough to remember", the actor joked).
Questions about the hit soap ensued — apparently, the fan was too eager to know "what was Marlena like." Now that is a good memory exercise!
Well, that was certainly a good flashback as well — after all, no matter how much Ackles loves his current gigs, it's always good to take a breath and look back.
