We love a good K-drama, especially when it’s artfully mixed with some good jokes. Strong Woman Do Bong Soon has it all. The producers clearly knew what they were doing and where they were going—creating one of the most powerful and popular couples on Korean television. And we got to see them again!
Strong Woman Do Bong Soon follows Do Bong Soon (played by Park Bo Young), a woman who comes from a line of super-strong female ancestors. She has superhuman strength and gets hired as a bodyguard to the CEO of a gaming company, Ahn Min Hyuk (Park Hyung Sik).
The show itself has some twists and plotlines that have you gasping in shock every now and then. But the actual gem of the show is the characters.
Do Bong Soon and Ahn Min Hyuk have off-the-charts chemistry, with Min Hyuk’s eyes never leaving Bong Soon’s face. It always seems like he doesn’t know whether to fear her or to kiss her. His facial expressions are actually one of the reasons why the couple works so great: it is obvious how much the characters like and adore one another.
It’s no wonder fans were hoping for more of that edge-of-your-seat drama in the spin-off Strong Girl Nam-soon, unofficially dabbed Season 2 of the show.
Strong Girl Nam-soon features Bong Soon’s cousin and her shenanigans in the world of people who are just less strong than her. The show is a bit anticlimactic and doesn’t match the success of its predecessor. Is it any wonder that they brought back BongMin, a couple that’s still got it after a long six years of waiting?
The cameo is as unexpected as it is so good to see: Bong Soon is brought in by the police, and Min Hyuk comes to her rescue. Their three minutes on screen are enough to show us that they’ve still got that chemistry, more of it than in the entire table of elements!
