Stranger Things Writers Poke Fun at Netflix France Over Confusing Season 5 Update

Season 4 of Stranger Things was off the charts last summer. The finale had fans feeling devastated but also pumped for the next and final season.

The upcoming season 5 hasn’t started shooting yet. The filming was supposed to begin in May, but it got pushed back due to the Writers Guild of America strike.

However, the official Netflix France Twitter account has recently revealed that the 5th season is in production. You can imagine how stoked fans were after hearing this news. But fans couldn’t enjoy this news for too long.

Stranger Things Writers' official Twitter responded to the French Netflix’s tweet. And they made it clear with their response that the information was wrong.

"No we’re not. We’re on strike. Are you okay France???" the writers tweeted.

In their witty response they also mention that the French should know better, joking that France is "always on strike."

Shortly after, the tweet from Netflix France was deleted. So yeah, it's pretty much certain that Stranger Things isn't in production at the moment.

Almost a month ago, the Duffer brothers shared their enthusiasm about starting production with their exceptional cast and crew, but due to the ongoing strike, it is not feasible at the moment. They also expressed hope that a fair agreement will be reached promptly, allowing everyone to resume their work.

The burning question on everyone's mind about season 5 is: when is it going to drop?

In an interview with Collider, the Duffer brothers said that they care more about giving us top-notch content than rushing to meet deadlines. They know that the whole process, from writing to post-production, takes time, and nobody wants their hard work to suffer just because they're trying to speed things up.

So we don't have an official release date yet, and the strike doesn’t help the situation, but we can take a wild guess that it might hit our screens sometime in late 2024, at the earliest.

While we're waiting for the next season, all we can do is binge-watch the previous seasons.
