It's not even about the Byler shippers.

The romantic relationship between Mike Wheeler and Eleven has been one of the Stranger Things ' pillar... which has gotten quite debatable as of season 4.

In the most recent chapter of Stranger Things, Mike and Eleven clearly had a lot of things to clear. Eleven had a problem with Mike being reluctant to tell her he loves her; Mike, meanwhile, had issues expressing his feelings. And even though he managed to do that in the season finale, fans still take issue with the Stranger Things' most mainstream couple.

According to some Stranger Things viewers, Mike and Eleven — or simply "Mileven" — is a "toxic" couple which should, in fact, break up. A lot of fans believe that Mike might be gay and in that case he is better off with his best friend Will who obviously has strong feelings for him.

Eleven, meanwhile, might be better off without any relationship whatsoever.

"I think right now she just needs time for family. She need time with her dad she hasn't seen in 8 months! She needs to relax from a lil from the drama between her and Mike and let her live a normal life," Twitter user beanewman22 suggested.

There is a problem with the way Mike sees his girlfriend, according to some fans.

"Eleven doesn't want to be a monster OR a superhero. Mike idolizes her as one. She just wants to be a normal girl. Eleven and Mike's relationship is doomed," Twitter user algoalgoa said.

But are Mike and Eleven actually toxic? In fact, many people — predictably including Mileven stans — argue that the entire issue is about the two being... kids.

"[M]ileven is not abusive or unhealthy or toxic they are fourteen and their biggest issue was built on Mike and Els insecurities and was solved by the end of the season," Twitter user infpbyers said.

Still, many Stranger Things fans argue that even "Will and D&D have a healthier relationship" than Mike and Eleven. In the fourth season, people took issue with how Mike never stood up for Eleven when she got humiliated by the crowd — something that they think is toxic no matter how old the couple is.

Some fans even admitted they stopped shipping Mileven after seeing the beginning of the fourth season. Still, the season finale had Mike and Eleven in a better place. Mike confessed his feelings and thus helped Eleven overpower Vecna.

But the Hawkins gang is still in big danger, with Vecna being injured but definitely not defeated. Season 4 leaves everyone face to face with the biggest threat yet. The fifth and final season will definitely be an emotional rollercoaster for fans. However, the premiere date is still to be scheduled.
