What's really going on in Will's head and heart?

While waiting for the highly expected season 5 of Stranger Things, fans keep looking for hidden details in previous seasons.

One clue was found in Stranger Things season 4, hinting at Vecna’s potential ally. Now another detail was found in the same season. A Reddit user shared their fascinating observation about Will’s painting.

There were a lot of speculations going around about Will being gay, and in season 4, it was finally confirmed. Not only that, but he is also in love with Mike. The theory suggests that the painting further explores Will’s feelings towards Mike.

In this painting that Will shows to Mike, we can see the group fighting a three-headed dragon. The painting shows Mike as the leader with a shield with a heart on it.

At first glance, the heart might simply mean that Will is the “heart” of the group, but the theory suggests a deeper meaning.

The shield features a heart adorned with a crown. This detail bears a striking resemblance to a popular piece of jewelry known as the Claddagh ring. Originating from Galway, Ireland, the Claddagh ring is known for its profound symbolism.

The Claddagh design usually consists of two hands clasping a heart, topped by a crown. Each element holds a specific meaning: the hands symbolize friendship, the crown represents loyalty, and the heart embodies love.

Traditionally, couples wear Claddagh rings as engagement or wedding rings.

In the painting, the shield is positioned on the right side, displayed the right way up. This placement and orientation could signify Will's desire to be with Mike romantically, as if he has captured his heart.

The absence of the hands in the painting is worth noting as well. The omission of the hands in Will's painting might suggest a shift in his feelings. Perhaps he no longer wants just a friendship with Mike; instead, he longs for a deeper connection, one that transcends mere companionship.

While it's exciting to analyze the hidden meanings, we must acknowledge that the show's creators may have intended for the painting to carry a symbolic message, or it could simply be a coincidence.

The detail is indeed intriguing, but we’ll have to wait for season 5 to see what's really going to happen between Will and Mike.
