When some girl with a pet human hand comes to break your records, it must be woeful. It might even turn your world Upside Down.

As Netflix 's Wednesday has broken Stranger Things ' record for most hours viewed in a week and become the platform's third most popular English-language series of all time, the Hawkins gang fans are silently rioting.

It's clear that the two shows are in fact rather difficult to compare: Stranger Things is an original story developed for Netflix, while Wednesday is a spinoff that has a history of an immensely popular Addams Family franchise behind it. Besides, Stranger Things is a horror drama, while its breakout rival is more of a coming-of-age comedy even though it has plenty of horror elements brought by director Tim Burton.

However, many people have already rendered Wednesday to be better than Stranger Things solely because of its numbers — something that has predictably triggered the ST fandom, with the Hawkins gang fans arguing that Wednesday is "too CW-like" to top their favorite show.

Still, the newly-found Wednesday fandom strikes back, arguing that the Jenna Ortega-led show has "better mystery" and is generally more engaging and exciting than Stranger Things, with some people arguing that the latter "degraded" after season 3.

But no matter how hard one wants to defend Wednesday or Stranger Things in this battle, it seems that the majority agrees that comparing the two shows doesn't make sense.

"The world would be a less annoying place if people stopped making objective statements about completely subjective things. What can you measure to say Stanger Things is objectively better? This isn't math or science," Twitter user DCFLAVOR argued.

As if this would prevent the two fandoms from the fight that is doomed to continue forever.

"I haven't even seen Wednesday but can we stop acting like Stranger Things is some kind of masterpiece? it's pure mediocrity. Bad writing, inconsistent characters, low tier horror," Twitter user robertsheehax noted.

Such opinions are immediately met with Stranger Things fans claiming that their show is "better executed" and has superior writing, cinematography and acting.

Looks like not choosing a side is impossible here. One thing is obvious: if Netflix is looking for its own Harry Potter or Star Wars, it should definitely keep milking the horror genre.
