Stephen King Finally Shares His Reaction to 3 Body Problem: Do You Agree?
Benioff and Weiss’ controversial magnum opus found an unlikely supporter.
Having become a brand in their own right thanks to their work on Game of Thrones, Benioff and Weiss quickly (and anticlimactically) wrapped up the iconic TV show and jumped aboard the Netflix ship to create 3 Body Problem, their new big thing. While proving to be divisive, the new sci-fi series received mostly positive reviews — and recently found an unlikely fan and supporter in the King of Horror himself.
Stephen King Loved 3 Body Problem
One of the best things about following the King of Horror on social media is that he’s constantly consuming fiction — and is happy to share his feedback with fans.
The celebrated author focused not only on his own genre, horror, but also everything that catches his attention… Like 3 Body Problem which he just recently watched.
He loved it.
“3 Body Problem (Netflix): Extraordinary science fiction series — sprawling, thought-provoking, immersive. The scenes of ‘first contact’ are chilling and awe-inspiring,” Stephen King wrote on his X (formerly Twitter) account.
Receiving direct praise from the King of Horror is a nice boost to any TV show or movie’s popularity, but it’s not like 3 Body Problem needed it: at this point, everyone knows about it. Benioff and Weiss made sure of it, even though not all liked it.
3 Body Problem Proved Better Than Expected
Despite having been launched under the spotlight by their work on Game of Thrones, its creators Benioff and Weiss somewhat ruined their reputation with the show’s finale. 3 Body Problem, an extremely ambitious and expensive show, had all eyes on it due to that, with fans guessing whether D&D would pull it off or not.
The results proved mixed but still mostly positive.
There’s definitely a lot of Game of Thrones-ish stuff at play in 3 Body Problem, from using shockingly brutal scenes to even recasting its actors. But despite that, Benioff and Weiss managed to create a strong and dark sci-fi epic that holds a strong 79% both in Critic and Audience Scores on Rotten Tomatoes and a solid 7.6 on IMDb.
Critics largely loved 3 Body Problem. Most viewers did, too. Now, there’s an entire Stephen King behind D&D’s latest creation, so we’re intrigued for what comes next.
