Station 19 Canceled After 7 Seasons

While the decision did not come out of the blue, and ever since ABC announced that it was saving 911 from cancellation on Fox, many thought that this would be the case, dedicated fans of the Grey's Anatomy spinoff were hoping that two shows would somehow coexist.

Now that the news is confirmed, Station 19 fans are not happy with the procedural that has taken its place.

While there would be nothing particularly wrong with ABC continuing two procedurals with very similar premises, it's most likely budget issues that led the network to this decision. If they wanted to match Fox's production quality for 911, it would take a lot of money. That was Fox's reason for dropping the show in the first place.

However, producing two of them and maintaining the quality seems even less possible, so the decision to cancel Station 19 now may have just saved viewers the agony of watching a few more cheaply produced seasons in order to milk whatever the network can from the fans.

There are still many questions surrounding the future of Station 19 characters who were also prominent parts of Grey's Anatomy, such as Ben Warren. But even if the production team has some answers, we won't find out just yet.
