Sharon Stone Is Set To Become A New DC Universe Villain In ‘Blue Beetle’
Hollywood veteran to return to DC Universe, yet the public is still sore from her last failed attempt to empress in 2004 ‘Catwoman’.
Looks like 90’s superstar Sharon Stone will be the latest addition to DC cinematic universe. ‘Basic Instinct’ and ‘Casino’ actress is in early talks to play a villain in upcoming ‘Blue Beetle’ movie, featuring DC’s first Latino superhero. Stone will star as Victoria Kord, and don’t blame yourself for not recognizing that name – the character was created specifically for the film, without any connection to original comic.
Blue Beetle was introduced for the first time in 2006, as a working-class teenager named Jaime Reyes, who stumbled upon superpowers by finding a strange-looking scarab. That scarab granted him an extraterrestrial suit of armor, allowing him to fight crime with enhanced speed and strength. Heavily influenced by Spider-Man, Blue Beetle quicky became a fan favorite, so the news about a forthcoming film adaptation didn’t come as a surprise.
Apart from Sharon Stone, the cast consists of ‘Cobra Kai ’ breakout star Xolo Maridueña and ‘Mayans M.C.’ Raoul Max Trujillo. The project is helmed by Angel Manuel Soto, who gain some traction for his indie-hit ‘Charm City Kings’.
And yet, some fans have their doubts over Sharon Stone’s involvement in the film, rightfully recalling the last time she portrayed a DC villain, created for the 2004 ‘Catwoman’, nominated for the multiple Razzie awards.
'Blue Beetle' is set to release on August 18, 2023.
