And each and every one of them has been 100% deserved.

Despite the fact that most professionals in the film industry do not work with the hope of collecting as many awards as possible, but with the goal of creating truly interesting and socially important movies, we all continue to follow the awards season closely year after year.

The Oscar ceremony is perhaps one of the most important events of the year for anyone involved in film production. From A-list celebrities, actors and directors, to cinematographers, makeup artists, sound specialists, animators and many others who usually go unnoticed behind the cameras, everyone waits with bated breath for the results.

In 2024, the 96th ceremony will take place on March 10. The most nominated film is Christopher Nolan 's Oppenheimer, which received 13 nominations in various categories. Considering how many other awards the movie has already won this season, it has every chance of sweeping the Oscars too.

But even if it does, Oppenheimer will not be the first movie in history to win in every category in which it was nominated.

Released in 2003, The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King is the third and final installment in The Lord of the Rings franchise, which also consists of The Fellowship of the Ring (2001) and The Two Towers (2002).

Although both critics and audiences agree that the second film was the most impressive, judging by the 95% score on Rotten Tomatoes for both films, it was Return of the King that managed to sweep the Oscars 20 years ago. Out of 11 nominations, the movie won every single one.

Of course, the movie won Best Picture and director Peter Jackson won Best Director. Fran Walsh, Philippa Boyens and Peter Jackson were also awarded for Best Adapted Screenplay, and Howard Shore along with other composers were awarded for Best Original Score and Best Original Song.

The team behind the film also won awards for Best Sound Mixing, Best Art Direction, Best Makeup, Best Costume Design, Best Film Editing and Best Visual Effects.

As you may have noticed, the only people who left the ceremony without an award were the actors. Not a single member of the cast was nominated for Best Actor or Actress, nor for Best Supporting Actor or Actress. Still, the honor of working with such an amazing team of professionals must have been satisfying enough.

If you are feeling nostalgic and want to throw a Lord of the Rings rewatch party, you can do so by streaming the entire trilogy on Max or Amazon Prime Video.
