A wig might've been a perfect solution for a situation like this.

If you are an actor, you know that you may be asked to change your appearance at any time, whether it is for a specific role or just to follow the trends of the industry.

Hollywood history is littered with examples of actors gaining weight, losing weight, changing hair color, or haircuts just to fit the director's vision.

If you are a TV show star, however, the appearance part can get very tricky.

You can either stick to one style and refuse the roles that require something drastically different, or you can be brave and accept the challenge, however uncomfortable it may be.

General Hospital 's Emma Samms was not one to shy away from change, which is why she was willing to dye her hair a different color each time she had to appear on the show.

While the actress portrayed Holly Sutton Scorpio on General Hospital, she also appeared on another show, Dynasty, as Fallon Carrington Colby.

It is not unexpected for an actress to play two characters at the same time, but it is surprising how Samms managed to keep her appearance intact.

Anyone who's ever dyed their hair knows how damaging the process can be, especially when going from lighter to darker colors.

Since Holly was a dark-haired brunette in her younger days, and Fallon had lighter auburn hair, we can only imagine how hard it was to maintain the quality of the hair.

Unfortunately, it was just hard enough for Samms to be forced to make a choice, and at the time, the actress decided to stick with the Dynasty role. The good thing about soap is that anything can happen and everyone can come back.

For example, Holly Sutton Scorpio was brought back to General Hospital years later, in April of this year, for the show's 60th anniversary.

If you want to see who else might come back this year, tune in to ABC Monday through Friday to make sure you don't miss any of General Hospital's major plot twists.
