Regardless of the quality of the new movies, they would almost certainly fail in comparison to the unique cozy feeling that Peter Jackson's trilogy gives us after all these years.

There are not many movies that you can watch over and over again without getting bored for a second, and Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings movie trilogy is definitely one of them.

Whenever you want to spend some quality time with your friends or significant other, just put on the director's cut, get comfortable on the couch, and enjoy the fantasy epic all over again.

But even among these three, one stands out because, according to many fans, The Fellowship of the Ring, the first part of the trilogy, has one of the fastest, most cozy and enjoyable first hours in movie history.

The music and direction perfectly embody the carefree atmosphere of the Shire, with the pastoral landscape of the Hobbits' homeland.

And the first scene with Frodo and Gandalf, thanks to the brilliant acting of Elijah Wood and Ian McKellen, immediately makes you believe that these two characters have known each other for a long time and are good friends.

The following scenes at Bilbo's home and at the fair perfectly introduce the audience to other hobbit characters, their quirks and character traits.

And when they meet Aragorn later in the story, Viggo Mortensen does a fantastic job of portraying a likable character who is also a cunning warrior and not to be messed with.

The story gets better and better as it goes on, with menacing Nazgûl, breathtaking Rivendell, and the dark halls of Moria, but the opening is what grabs the viewer, sets the mood for the adventure to come, and does not let go until the credits of the third film roll.

It has become so iconic after more than twenty years since its release that some fans have admitted to finding a rather... unexpected use for it. As some of them confess, when they want to fall asleep to a movie, they choose this one.

Not because it is boring, on the contrary, it has become so comforting and familiar through the thousands of times they have watched The Fellowship that "there is no better place to fall asleep than the Shire or Rivendell."

With new Lord of the Rings movies announced, it would be interesting to see how they would fare (and honestly, most likely fail) against such truly legendary competition.

After all, they would not have the advantage that Jackson's films have of having stood the test of time and earned the undying love of millions.
