It's always hard to say goodbye to our favorite shows, but at some point, it needs to be done.

Young Sheldon is a rare example of a prequel done well — so well that The Big Bang Theory prequel managed to conquer the hearts of the original show's fans and even garner its own.

However, no matter how hard Young Sheldon tries to be its own thing, it is still restricted by the limits of The Big Bang Theory canon. It's not only about the timeline and the need to stick to consistency of the parent show, but also about the name — if a show is titled Young Sheldon, it can't quite follow the main character into his adulthood.

Sheldon's age is not the only problem that has many people thinking that the prequel should bid adieu after season 7. We are inevitably getting closer to perhaps the most tragic part of Sheldon's life — the death of his father George.

In The Big Bang Theory, everything was fine: we didn't really see or know George, and all the information we had about him pointed at him being a less than pleasant man. Killing him off was easy; unlike with Young Sheldon, as the prequel has already established George as the sweetest possible guy.

Every TBBT fan knows what's coming; and even though creators have already hinted they may try and avoid killing George off (after all, it's a comedy we have here...), the Big Bang Theory's canon is merciless. George has to go.

No matter how exactly Young Sheldon tackles the issue, there's another reason season 7 should be its swan song. It's almost time for Sheldon to go study in Caltech in California, and given that it's the place where he meets the rest of The Big Bang Theory characters, Young Sheldon's story is naturally coming to an end.

But it doesn't mean that it is the end of The Big Bang Theory universe; after all, CBS has announced a new spinoff coming our way, and season 7 of Young Sheldon is yet to arrive. So we have at least one more chapter of the life of our favorite wunderkind weirdo!
