When you have a little faith in something, it usually works out.

Major streaming platforms never fail to surprise you with the new things they come up with. Well, it’s only natural that they would try out new forms and genres to impress viewers. As the industry is full of so many things there’s barely anything to invent.

However, Netflix manages to keep up with the demands and almost every month releases a hit series one after another. Seems like it was only a few days ago that sci-fi drama 3 Body Problem premiered on the platform and climbed up to the top position in the global chart, but today the first place is already occupied by a totally different thing.

The docuseries called Testament: The Story of Moses is now Netflix’s number 1 show. Released on March 27, the series already generated a lot of buzz around its premise, and frankly we think that the creators were ready for that.

What Is Testament: The Story of Moses About?

Biblical themes are definitely one of the most difficult to handle, and the creators of Testament: The Story of Moses did the best they could. The show keeps up with the journey of Moses from the moment he was considered an outcast and until the day he was praised for saving the Hebrews from Egyptian oppression.

However, there are many things the showrunners decided to do differently in the series. For example, the docuseries omitted violent events and harsh decisions, and portrayed Moses as a flawed, less brutal figure than in religious texts.

The series focuses more on the role of saving people rather than the religious leadership aspects. It was also decided to exclude some other important aspects of Moses' life in order to create a specific image needed for the series.

The changes in the religious story have been met with mixed reviews. Well, quite predictable. The show only has a 29% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, but we think it's too early to judge since the show has just been released.

Testament: The Story of Moses is available to stream on Netflix.
