'Multiverse of Madness' Deleted Scenes Featured Even More Superhero Cameos
Yep, there could have been even more cameos… if you trust the rumors, of course.
Doctor Strange could have taken us much further into the multiverse of madness, but Marvel ultimately decided that certain three cameos were a no-go for the movie. We could have seen Ghost Rider, Deadpool, and Michael Fassbender's Magneto, but the scenes featuring the three characters were axed from 'Multiverse of Madness', insider James Clement claimed on his podcast Weekly Planet.
Ghost Rider could have been a major table-turning character in the movie, given how he's one of the characters actually capable of facing off Wanda Maximoff and even killing her. According to Clement, Ghost Rider was set to be "a very interesting member of the Illuminati" in the 'Multiverse of Madness', but Wanda would still "probably" kill him. Now that Marvel reportedly decided to go without Ghost Rider, we'll never know for sure.
Fassbender's Magneto was also "going to turn up", and the scene was even filmed, but the studio then decided to cut it from the theatrical version – a detail that leaves hope that fans maybe will get to see Magneto in the deleted scenes. Besides, it potentially adds fuel to the fire of the fan speculation regarding Marvel rebooting X-Men, now that Evan Peters appeared in 'WandaVision' and Patrick Stewart briefly reprised the role of Professor Xavier in 'Multiverse of Madness'.
Deadpool's cameo is something that even the movie's writer, Michael Waldron, has addressed in one of his interviews. Waldron said that the studio decided that Ryan Reynold's character "did not feel right" in the movie. According to Clement, Deadpool was initially expected to appear in the post-credit scene, but the insider did not reveal any details about this appearance.
It's unclear whether the creators will release the deleted scenes from the Doctor Strange sequel, and when exactly that will happen, if at all. As of now, 'Multiverse of Madness' is still storming the theatres, set to be available for streaming on Disney Plus starting July 8. The DVD and Blu-ray releases are expected at some point in August 2022.
