We've ranked five of the legendary M. Night Shyamalan's worst movies that are great examples of unintentional comedy.

M. Night Shyamalan has earned a reputation as the "King of Twists" over the years, as with rare exception, almost all of his movies contain a shocking twist.

And while he has directed some undoubtedly great movies like The Sixth Sense (1999) and Unbreakable (2000), the rest of his work is VERY hit and miss.

Some of them are just extremely bland and forgettable, but others are pure gold of unintentional comedy if you approach them with the right mood. So here are 5 terrible but hilarious M. Night Shyamalan movies.

5. Devil (2010)

Even though M. Night didn't direct this movie, he wrote this script about people stuck in an elevator who get killed one by one, and it definitely has his signature style.

Wacky characters, absolute seriousness and a plot twist... that is completely spoiled by the title of the movie.

4. Signs (2002)

This movie is loved by a surprisingly large number of people, but you can't deny that it has one of the stupidest alien weaknesses in movie history, being defeated by blunt objects, wooden doors and... water.

Which, well, covers 70% of the planet they want to conquer. The acting is also extremely weird at times, giving a comedic feel to supposedly serious dialogue.

3. Old (2021)

This horror-thriller about a mysterious beach that causes people to age rapidly is also turned into a comedy by the acting of the main characters.

Also, one of them is called Mid-Sized Sedan, which feels almost intentionally weird and hilarious.

2. The Happening (2008)

Shyamalan has an almost magical talent for making great actors look terrible, and this movie is a glaring example of that. Mark Wahlberg and the others are absolutely ridiculous in it, culminating in the legendary "What? Nooooo!" meme.

And the twist about the plants being responsible for people killing themselves is thrown in so casually halfway through the story that you might even miss it.

1. Lady in the Water (2006)

The holy grail of bad Shyamalan movies, this story is so insane that you should definitely watch it. It revolves around a writer who finds a character named Story (no, we're not kidding) who belongs to a species called Narf.

And it just gets weirder and weirder, so this movie totally deserves its title as the most ridiculously awful Shyamalan movie.
