M. Night Shyamalan’s Top-Tier Horror You Can’t Miss If You’re Waiting For Trap
It’s also a must-watch for Get Out fans.
Known as the master of twists, M. Night Shyamalan is now one of the most recognized horror filmmakers, and we bet you have seen at least one of his scary flicks, including Signs (2002), The Happening (2008), Split (2016) and Knock at the Cabin (2023).
Shyamalan’s upcoming Trap is already considered one of the best movies of 2024, even though it’ll be aired only in August. However, while we’re waiting for it, it’d be curious to revise one of his creepiest horrors that is now climbing HBO’s global top.
Its plot revolves around teen siblings Becca and Tyler, who are sent to their maternal grandparents’ remote farm to meet them for the first time and have a weeklong rest.
The more time they spend with the couple, the more disturbing behavior they face from them. It turns out that the grandparents hold a number of shocking secrets that will keep Becca and Tyler from returning home (or from remaining alive).
The synopsis of this 2015 flick can remind you of such genre’s hits as Get Out (2017) and Hereditary (2018). The setting and the tone of these horrors can be really reminiscent of Shyamalan's gem, and if you enjoyed them, you shouldn’t miss it.
The movie received glowing praise, and it was enhanced by the fact that before 2015, the director had a number of failures, both critical and box office ones, and returned his success with this very horror.
Overall, it is claimed to be perfectly written, and the trademark twists are really present here - the filmmaker managed to hide even the simplest turn and reveal it all of sudden.
Besides, the audience was really impressed by the kids' performances, but if you're a die-hard fan of Shyamalan's films, you know that this director knows how to work with young actors. You can recall the brilliant kid from Sixth Sense (1999), for example.
Titled The Visit, this found footage horror is one hell of a roller coaster, according to fans.
“I got dragged to it thinking it’d be a crappy Paranormal Activity knockoff but it’s a really solid horror movie with actors that can actually act,” claims Redditor @DarthGoodguy.
Check out this gem if you’re looking forward to seeing Trap or simply want to get acquainted with Shyamalan's works. The Visit is now available for streaming on Max.
