Leonardo DiCaprio Once Had a Brave Revenant-Coded Moment While Filming Don’t Look Up

Leonardo DiCaprio’s career credits proved a long time ago that the actor is always down for challenging acting roles, however physically difficult they may be.

Starting from Titanic ’s freezing waters and ending with an almost authentic survival period during filming The Revenant, also complemented by the actor’s real-life accidents like the exploded wing of his plane to Russia or a miraculous escape from a shark in South Africa — it seems like Leonardo DiCaprio is prepared for any unexpected twist of his life or career.

Though at some point the actor indeed felt like life had been training him for one particular situation when it came to rescuing his beloved dogs.

In one of his interviews while promoting his 2021’s black comedy film Don’t Look Up DiCaprio alongside colleagues Jennifer Lawrence, Jonah Hill and director Adam McKay revealed that the skills that he had acquired during years and even decades of taking up challenging roles eventually came in handy when he had to take his two huskies out of a frozen lake.

As Adam McKay said, DiCaprio had brought his two huskies with him on set and both of them could be compared to tornadoes crashing everything around them. Jennifer Lawrence then stepped in adding that at some point the dogs’ irrepressible behavior led to one of them falling in a frozen lake close to the shooting site.

The actor rushed into the lake to save the beloved pet and, the moment that the first dog was returned to the ground, the second one jumped in the lake as well. According to McKay and Lawrence, both of them then felt like they were about to have a heart attack while trying to help DiCaprio with his tireless dogs.

The scary incident eventually turned into a funny story that the whole crew likes to bring up while reminiscing about the film’s production process.
