They don't want a new platform — they want more new seasons.

Summary:

  • S.W.A.T. has had a tumultuous journey: initially canceled by CBS, it was renewed for season 7 after fan backlash
  • Season 7 will premiere on February 16, 2024
  • S.W.A.T. star Shemar Moore announced that six seasons of the show will be available on WeTV, but remained mum on the current status of the seventh season

S.W.A.T. is a heartwarming example of a show saved from instant cancellation by its devoted fandom. After CBS tried to end the series on season 6, fans immediately rioted, thus prompting the network to U-turn and renew S.W.A.T. for yet another season — this time, the final one, for sure.

Just recently, CBS has also announced that the final S.W.A.T. season will premiere on February 16, 2024 — and while many fans are happy to know the exact release date after the strikes-caused chaos, some people are still frustrated about the series' end.

Besides, according to Shemar Moore, who portrays Daniel "Hondo" Harrelson on the show, fans will now be able to binge S.W.A.T. on another platform — WeTV, which already has all six seasons available for streaming.

"Homies, Fans, N Baby Girls!!! #SWAT season 1-6 is coming to @wetv this SUNDAY, NOV 12!!!!! Let’s go!!!!" the actor wrote in a recent Instagram post.

The post, however, has caused mixed reaction in the fandom. Some people are now pissed with the need to purchase yet another subscription to watch their favorite show, while others are lamenting the imminent end of S.W.A.T. and demanding that another network gives the show a new life.

"I am still REALLY pissed that CBS is cancelling S.W.A.T. after season 7. It just doesn't make sense. Could another network buy it?" one user wondered in the comment section.

Many fans argue that S.W.A.T. has just enough potential for 10 or even 12 seasons, and "people would love that." Others, however, note that the fandom should be happy it's getting a seventh season when the show could have been axed after the sixth.

What S.W.A.T. Season 7 Will Be About?

The seventh season will be shortened to just 13 episodes, so fans are already scared that the final chapter won't be able to bring everything to a close in a proper way. However, they still have their wish lists for the upcoming grand finale.

Some people think Hicks and Luca need to get into a relationship (separately, that is); others just pray for Tan to find happiness after Bonnie. Heck, Tan and Luca can go on a date, can't they? Also, a Hondo and Nichelle wending is a must-have for the final season. If it's the end, let it be a happy one.

In terms of cameos that fans are waiting for, it would be fun for Chris and Jessica both get one. One fan even suggested that S.W.A.T. should do a crossover episode with The Shield, as the shows are supposedly taking place in the same universe.

Still, these are all just fan speculations, and we'll have to wait until early 2024 to see what the final S.W.A.T. season has in store for us. Tune in to CBS on February 16 for a big goodbye!
