Justified: City Primeval Kinda Saved Itself From Misery In The Most Predictable Way
Well, you know what this means.
Justified: City Primeval’s finale has just aired, and it left the fans satisfied in so many ways. Even if there were some of the viewers that hated the spinoff, now they all seem to have gotten to the other side.
The only thing that helped the show's creators achieve such an effect was giving the fans exactly what they had been craving all season. Even though some people thought the old villain was no longer needed, and City Primeval was enough as it was, deep inside, we knew it kind of wasn’t.
Yes, the showrunners assumed that the new series based on the original Justified would survive on its own, and for a while, it seemed to work.
But the core fandom never got over the fact that Boyd Crowder, brilliantly portrayed by Walton Goggins, never appeared on the show. Well, until the very end of the final episode...
As the show's creators revealed in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, the idea to bring Goggins into the show came up at the very beginning.
It seemed natural because, well, let's face it, Boyd didn't die in the original series. And the history between him and Raylan is just too big to leave out.
Fans predicted his cameo in their "dream ending" for the show.
“Boyd breaks out of prison after finding out Ava died for real and he has a teenage son who had been living with family in Harlan. He goes to Loretta to hide him while he looks for his son because he was moved into some kind of protection due to Boyds escape. Raylan gets a phone call. End,” Redditor kylel036 said.
Well, guess what? City Primeval did, in fact, end with Boyd escaping and driving off into the (presumably Mexican) sunset, and Raylan receiving a call. The phone kept ringing as the screen faded to black, but we all knew what the call meant, didn’t we?
Now, all the fans want is another season of the show to find out what is in store for the show's best duo. And given the City Primeval season 1 finale, it would only be fair to expect some good news from FX about the sequel… wouldn’t it?
