Jaskier Gets a New Song in Blood Origin - Is it the Next 'Toss a Coin'?
Just what The Witcher prequel needed.
Exciting news has emerged about the upcoming fantasy series The Witcher: Blood Origin, a prequel to the beloved The Witcher show. It has been revealed that the character Jaskier, a bard, will be performing a new song in the series.
Fans of The Witcher will recall that in Season 1, Jaskier (played by Joey Baty) sang the infectious tune Toss a Coin to Your Witcher, which became a massive hit when the series premiered in December 2019. In Season 2, Jaskier introduced the more contemplative song Burn, Butcher, Burn, which, while it didn't achieve the same level of success as Toss a Coin, was still well-received by audiences. Now, fans can look forward to another potential hit from Jaskier in The Witcher: Blood Origin.
According to recent reports from Redanian Intelligence, fans of The Witcher: Blood Origin can expect to hear a new song by Jaskier in the closing credits of the final sixth episode. It seems that we won't be treated to a full musical number from the bard, however.
As it turns out, Jaskier's song is not included in the official soundtrack for The Witcher: Blood Origin, composed by Bear McCreery (known for his work on The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power and The Walking Dead ). It's believed that the track was removed from the list due to its title potentially revealing plot points in the show. Netflix will likely unveil all of the songs after the release of The Witcher: Blood Origin.
The upcoming series The Witcher: Blood Origin will be set 1,200 years before the events of the original The Witcher series. During this time, the Continent was ruled by elves. The series will center around the legendary Conjunction of the Spheres, a magical event that brought people and monsters to the Continent. Jaskier, the bard, will not be traveling back in time but will instead serve as a storyteller.
The Witcher: Blood Origin is set to premiere on December 25th. In the summer of 2023, season 3 of The Witcher will also be released, and it's likely that Jaskier will have another musical number in it as well.
