It wasn't the most dangerous stunt in the actor's career, but it could have had a very bad ending.

In recent years, Tom Cruise's career has shifted more toward action than drama, and actor's desire to do his own stunts has attracted more attention than the roles themselves.

However, a 40-year career in Hollywood is an impressive achievement, and his dedication to performing stunts without stunt doubles is legendary.

Although the actor has been injured many times due to this immersion in the role, one incident brought him closer to death than any other.

In 2004, Cruise starred with Jamie Foxx in the movie Collateral, where he also did all of his own stunts. One dangerous scene went so badly that Foxx thought he had killed his co-star.

He was supposed to crash into the car Tom was in, but the blow was too hard: "I hit the gas, the cab goes straight head on into [Cruise's] Mercedes and the Mercedes lifts off the ground and goes off the set."

Tom himself later admitted that at that moment his whole life flashed before his eyes and he ended up on the roof of the car.

Now we can say that such sacrifices of the actor were not worth it, since the movie collected a fairly average box office –$ 220 million.

However, Collateral became a special movie for the actor, as this is the only significant negative role in Tom's career.

Cruise embodied the image of a killer, who without questions and doubts, kills people. He was confronted by an ordinary taxi driver, played by Jamie Foxx, whom Cruise's character takes hostage.

Despite the fact that the actor is constantly injured while performing stunts, he stubbornly refuses to accept help from stuntmen.

The actor himself calls the episode of Mission Impossible 7, in which he jumps off a cliff on a motorcycle, the most dangerous stunt of his life. Yes, no CGI or stunt doubles were used in that scene.

This scene was filmed in Norway, where an impressive springboard was built on a mountain.

Film crew members who saw this action from the side say that the actor repeated this trick four times until it completely satisfied Cruise and the director.

Before the jump, the actor practiced a lot, jumping from a cliff to check the wind direction and choose the most successful angles.
