It’s crazy to think that another major franchise’s biggest stars have never met before, but it still makes a lot of sense.
Having been promoting geeky pop culture-ish things throughout its 12-year-long run, The Big Bang Theory is probably still the biggest and most popular homage to some long-standing sci-fi franchises, with Star Wars being one of the most frequent choices.
Revolving around a group of friends that were almost literally obsessed with everything that had a connection to any of Star Wars’ shows or movies, The Big Bang Theory gave a warm welcome to many of the franchise’s lead stars on its set.
However, what might have struck the sitcom’s fans the most is that Star Wars actually never introduced its two major actors — but The Big Bang Theory did.
It does sound pretty weird, but the paths of James Earl Jones and Carrie Fisher, who rose to worldwide prominence thanks to their roles in Star Wars’ saga, have actually never crossed before they met on The Big Bang Theory’s set, yet it has a pretty logical explanation.

Since James Earl Jones is mostly known as Darth Vader’s voice, he never appeared in any scene that would also include Carrie Fisher’s Leia. Though the actors eventually never got to appear on the screen together, it still raises a question why they’d never even met during press conferences or any other promo event ahead of one of the franchise’s installments' release.
All that becomes even more striking when reminded that Jones and Fisher had never had a chance for an encounter in 40 years before they both ended up in the same episode of The Big Bang Theory.
However, the actors’ first meeting that initially had a lot to do with their most famous roles was filled with even more sweetness than everyone on the set expected. As the series’s showrunner Steve Molaro once told, the first thing that Carrie Fisher said to James Earl Jones was a one-word sentence, and that word was “Dad”.
The revelation came as yet another heartwarming moment for Star Wars’ numerous fans to remember for a long time and, additionally, a nice memory of Carrie Fisher and her humorous take on an unexpected encounter.
