Scrubs has become one of those "major league" sitcoms that can make you laugh just as easily as it can make you cry into your pillow after the next episode.

The show raised deep questions, made us empathize with the characters, and made us think about life. And the perfect ending came... no, not at the end of season nine.

The final episode of the eighth season My Finale was a poignant summation of the long history of the employees of Sacred Heart Hospital.

The episode gave us a chance to say goodbye to our favorite characters, answered the questions that have piled up over eight seasons, and took us on an emotional journey through the corridors of the hospital.

This episode showed us how the characters had grown since the first season and ensured that they had a bright future, and while fans knew they wouldn't be seeing them again, they were glad it ended the way it did.

And then... the ninth season happened. Scrubs: Med School was supposed to be a spinoff of the original sitcom, but for some reason the studio wouldn't allow the show to be split.

So season 9 ended up being a weird mix of a sequel and a spinoff that didn't work out.

The first episode of the new season immediately destroys the meaning of My Finale when we learn that Sacred Heart has been torn down and replaced with a new hospital.

For the fans who spent eight years within the walls of the Sacred Heart, it was the first blow under the belt. The main characters from previous seasons, to whom fans have already said goodbye, appeared as supporting characters and did not play a major role in the plot.

Such a return of the characters was more than unnecessary, considering that the ninth season was canceled after 13 episodes.

Some fans believe that the new season was only created for financial reasons.

"The only reason it exists is because there was a financial crash making things difficult on the entertainment industry as well as the rest of the world.

Bill Lawrence, the creator of Scrubs decided he could either end the show the way he had planned the year before or he could save everyone on his crew from unemployment during that time by doing another season/spinoff," Reddit user Hogteeth said.

Fans agree that, given the talents of the Scrubs' creators, the spinoff (if it really remained a spinoff) could be a worthy project, focusing on new characters and starting a whole new story.

But the studio's control and demands not only failed to launch a new project, it also ruined the legacy of the original show.
