Eva Green recently celebrated her 44th birthday on July 6, and her acting path started more than 20 years ago.

The debut role of 23-year-old Eva Green was the provocative drama The Dreamers, filmed by the great Italian director Bernardo Bertolucci. Set in France in the 60s, the film centers on three students exploring art, life and their own sexuality.

The image of the magnetic Isabelle, in love with modern cinema and rebellious Paris, largely predicted Green's future acting career – she would spend the next few years playing mysterious beauties.

However, in contrast to her liberated character, Eva Green is by nature a shy and even slightly reclusive person – she saw every explicit scene as a personal challenge.

Eva Green's Most Notable Recent Roles

One of the actress' most striking roles in recent years was the French film Proxima, which can rightly be considered a hidden gem in Green's filmography. Here, Eva plays an astronaut named Sarah.

Despite the space topic, the film focuses more on the main character's difficult relationship with her seven-year-old daughter, which becomes even more strained after Sarah is selected for a one-year space mission called Proxima. Torn between her professional ambitions and her desire to be a good mother, Sarah finds herself at the center of an existential crisis.

However, the actress stars not only in arthouse dramas, but also in Disney projects. In the remake of the animated film Dumbo, director Tim Burton assembled an all-star cast, including Colin Farrell, Michael Keaton, and Danny DeVito. The actress played the role of trapeze artist Colette Marchant – for the role, Eva had to overcome her fear of heights by training with a professional acrobat.

The actress' most recent TV project was the Apple TV+ series titled Liaison – one of the two main roles was played by Vincent Cassel, who agreed to take part in the filming of a TV series for only the second time in his career. The actor first appeared in the third season of Westworld.

The last full-length works of the actress were two parts of the adaptation of the French classic by Alexandre Dumas – The Three Musketeers.
