Here's When That Time Jump Will Take Place in 'House of the Dragon'
We will have to say goodbye to the young versions of some beloved characters sooner or later.
'House of the Dragon ' is approaching its climax, and it has been known that at some point in the story, the show will appropriate a time jump and change some of the actors to reprise the older versions of the characters.
Among such characters will be Rhaenyra Targaryen and Alicent Hightower. Over the four episodes, the two heroines have been portrayed by Milly Alcock and Emily Carey respectively. However, it looks like they will have to bid adieu as the series reaches its middle.
Alcock and Carey's final appearances as their characters are expected to be in episode 5, titled 'We Light The Way'. With that knowledge, it would be reasonable to suggest that the announced time jump will take place at the end of episode 5, or at the beginning of episode 6.
According to the Culture Crave podcast, there are discussions for the young actresses to potentially return at some point later, but chances are they will be used minimally and for some kind of flashbacks.
'House of the Dragon' is covering a gloomy time period in the House Targaryen history, looking back at how the family engaged in a bloody civil war for the Throne. The war was dubbed the Dance of the Dragons, and without major spoilers, we can definitely say it did not end well for every participant, dragons included. Due to the history of the conflict being stretched in time, the show could not go with the same actresses portraying the characters who definitely grew older.
Some of the characters, however, will remain the same. For instance, if you are a big fan of Daemon Targaryen being portrayed by Matt Smith, then you've got nothing to worry about.
The fifth episode of 'House of the Dragon' will premiere on HBO Max this Sunday.
