Maude Apatow portrayed Lexi Howard in both seasons of 'Euphoria'.

"Nepotism babies" is a term Generation Z actively uses in regards to celebrity children who decide to follow the footsteps of their already successful parents, therefore getting somewhat of a headstart in their career. Maude Apatow, the daughter of renowned director and writer Judd Apatow and actor Leslie Mann, has long been castigated as one of such "nepotism babies", and she has finally addressed the less-than-flattering label.

Speaking with Net-a-Porter, Apatow admits that the label made her feel "sad" at first. But then she learned to deal with it.

"I try not to let it get to me because I obviously understand that I'm in such a lucky position. A lot of people [in a similar position] have proven themselves over the years, so I've got to keep going and make good work. It's so early in my career, I don't have much to show yet, but hopefully one day I'll be really proud of the stuff I've done by myself," Maude says.

It seems that many fans are ready to side with Apatow as she deals with labels, especially given that she "can actually act". "I think it's fine to be a nepo baby as long as you actually have talent and Maude definitely has talent," Twitter user itsandrewyuh explained.

In 'Euphoria ', Maude appeared to prove her talent to a lot of people as the show ascended to one of the most-watched series across the world, inspiring young people to copy the characters' outfits and makeup styles.

However, there are people who think Apatow fails to fully understand her privilege.

"She still doesn't understand what nepotism means. It's not about being good enough to do what one does. It's about having the privilege to step into that world so easily and get your foot in. I don't really care how you got there, but let's at least understand what we're saying." – @lolabea_perry

But even these opinions are being countered online by people who argue that Maude does not "abuse" the title of a nepotism baby, and has nothing to do with the fact that she was simply "born into this life".

Aside from acting, Apatow is actively exploring writing, just like her 'Euphoria' character Lexi Howard. In the Net-a-Porter cover story, the young actress has revealed that there is a dark comedy coming to Netflix which she will write and star in. However, she has not elaborated any further.
